Trauma Counseling
Are you finding that you are awake more than sleeping at night?
Are you feeling severe anxiety and having uncontrollable thoughts?
Are you having difficulty regulating your emotions?
Are you experiencing recurring fears that something horrible will happen again?
Are you having flashbacks because of the terrible experience you had, and it is haunting you?
Is it overwhelming to be around people, so you are choosing to isolate?
Are you having difficulty concentrating and focusing on one thing at a time?
It is not uncommon for those who experience trauma to be in a constant state of fight or flight. As a result, because you are having difficulty falling asleep. Trauma can also affect how well you are able to rest when sleeping. Nightmare disorders, periodic leg movements, and sleep terrors can affect you when trying to sleep at night. Regular sounds are loud. Trauma can also affect the severity of pain you may experience from situations that are not normally painful. Your triggers can be situational, a sound, a smell, music, or touch. Speaking with a counselor can help you to process the trauma that has occurred in your life. Trauma counseling can make a difference.
You Are Not Alone
Your responses to trauma typically show as you are being relieved that you survived. This is followed by feelings of stress and being overwhelmed at things that in the past didn’t affect you. These emotions coincide with feeling fear, anger, and racing thoughts. Sometimes they come all at once and sometimes they come one after another. Either way, they come, and you want to escape all over again. With counseling support, there is hope and healing available to you.
Trauma Counseling Can Help You Heal
I assist people with finding the source of their trauma by overcoming the causes of their triggers and stressors. Sessions provide a holistic approach to get the root of the matter and provide the necessary tools to remove trauma from your life. I help lift the worry that doesn’t seem to go away. Whether you have been dealing with trauma for 2 weeks or 2 years, we will walk the healing journey together.
The counseling sessions are a place of hope where the whole person – Spirit, Soul, Body – is addressed. Our sessions put the topic of faith front and center. We will explore life events that led to the trauma. A complete analysis of emotional, medical, psychological, and spiritual history will be explored to address the most urgent needs to get to the core of the problem.
In the initial counseling session, we will discuss the reason for seeking counseling and get acquainted with one another. A 10-minute questionnaire will be completed which assists in catering the sessions for your specific need. We will discuss any questions or reservations you may have about counseling as your comfort level is of the utmost importance. It is important you feel safe and know you are in a place of healing.
The second session will be a continuation of the first where we will further discuss family, health, and spiritual history. We will also discuss any insights gained in the previous session. After having a better understanding of the issues, we will discuss the course of counseling.
Depending on your needs, counseling can be short-term for a specific issue or long-term for more difficult patterns or your desire for personal development. Short term counseling could be a situation where you have experienced a loss of a job and are feeling anxiety as a result. Long-term counseling could entail alcohol and drug counseling which can be linked to trauma. It is common to schedule weekly sessions for counseling.
In the following counseling sessions, we will explore new productive ways in which you can get your temperament needs met. We will also uncover false beliefs about God and ourselves and replace them with God’s truth. Counseling sessions will embody:
· The strengths God has given you.
· God’s love for you and who you are in Christ.
· Your counseling and temperament-specific needs are met in healthy ways.
A Christian-centered method is used that will utilize the plan of action designed to fit your personal needs. In my counseling approach, I consider variables such as age, understanding, temperament, spiritual level, and past or present life issues. There is no set formula as the sessions are individually personalized for you.
This is what trauma counseling can do for you.
MAYBE YOU ARE CONSIDERING Trauma COUNSELING BUT HAVE SOME CONCERNS
I DO NOT BELIEVE IN COUNSELING.
Your mental health is just as debilitating as any other disease. But like any other disease, ignoring it does not make it go away. Studies have shown that an anxiety disorder is equivalent to experiencing a broken leg. Wouldn’t you seek support and assistance if you had a broken leg? It would be my pleasure to assist you in having a more peaceful life through counseling.
